A Kettle Creek Book

Four Jars

by Micah Nilsson

Book Three, a pick-your-path adventure

Boots, Fox and Cricket at the rail of the fire lookout, looking out over the valley.

Mrs. Toadwell comes down her walk with four empty glass jars, the kind that pears come in, and hands them to Cricket, Boots and Fox. Then she goes back inside and shuts the door.

Nobody asks what they are for.

From the crossroad, four roads go out: to the snow, to the beach, up the ridge and down to the river. You choose where the three of them go. Each road leads to three different adventures and a jar to fill, and there is always something else to try.
